WISHART URGES SCOTTISH WATER & SSE TO “GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER” OVER TUMMEL BRIDGE WATER SUPPLY

Published date : 30 October, 2014

The Scottish National Party’ Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliametn for Perth & North Perthshire has urged both Scottish Water and SSE to “get their act together” and take urgent action so sort out the issue of the water supply to the community of Tummel Bridge in his constituency.

Speaking today (Thursday) Mr Wishart said:

“This appalling situation has gone on for far too long and it is well past time that both Scottish Water and SSE got their act together and sorted out a clean water supply or the people of Tummel Bridge.

“No one, in this day and age, should be expected to put up with undrinkable tap water for such a long period of time.

“The worst is not that Scottish Water have had to admit that they have failed to meet its target of October 20th for connecting these homes to a clean, safe water supply but that they cannot give any indication as to when it will happen.

“I want to hear a clear plan of action from Scottish Water as to how they intend to resolve this issue and I will be writing to Professor Gordon Hughes, Chairman of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland enquiring as to what action his organisation can take to put pressure on Scottish Water.”
