WISHART OFFERS BEST WISHES TO PITLOCHRY ART WALK FESTIVAL

Published date : 19 June, 2015

Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire has praised the energy and creativity of those who have been working hard to put together the first Pitolochry Art Walk Festival which gets underway tomorrow, Saturday 20 June, and runs until Sunday 28 June.

Speaking today (Friday) Mr Wishart said:

With 21 businesses across Pitlochry each donating space for at least one artist, this is quite definitely a community-wide project and there are guides available throughout the town with a map of the venues and details about the businesses and artists involved.

“There are a total of 40 artists taking part, exhibiting works in a range of media, including paintings, jewellery, photography and fabrics.

“The decision to include the P1 to S3 pupils from Highland Perthshire schools taking part in the annual Pitlochry Rotary Club Schools Art & Design competition was a stroke of genius, allowing these young budding artists and their families to see their work on public display alongside those of established artists from around Perthshire and beyond.

“Many congratulations to Annie Stenhouse at the Melt Gallery who came up with the idea for the Art Walk Festival and to everyone who has helper pull it together.  I wish the festival every success for the coming eight days and look forward to it becoming an annual event."
