WISHART WELCOMES PROGRESS ON CITY DEAL

Published date : 16 February, 2017

Perth and North Perthshire MP, Pete Wishart, has this week met with Tay Cities Deal head, David Littlejohn, to discuss the Tay Cities Deal and the opportunities it will present for Perth and Perthshire.

Speaking following the meeting Pete Wishart said.

“The Tay Cities Deal is now approaching conclusion and will soon be presented to the UK and Scottish Governments for consideration and hopefully approval. There are exciting investment and development opportunities for Perthshire and I hope that the many proposals are approved. I was pleased to hear from David Littlejohn about the full depth and breadth of the transformative opportunities for the whole Tay region.

‘From support for the Cross Tay Link Road to improvements at Pitlochtry Festival Theatre, the Tay Cities Deal includes something for of all of Perthshire. There are also proposals to improve our cultural resources and I am particularly excited about the plans to deliver a Creative Exchange in the old St Johns Primary School.

‘The Tay Cities Deal has also improved the range of collaborative work between the four local authorities involved and I will be working with MPs from around the region to ensure that the deal is properly considered at Westminster.”
