BLACK WATCH SOLDIER KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN
Perth parliamentarians, Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perth and Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire have expressed their sadness at news released this morning (Friday) that another soldier from the Black Watch was killed in Afghanistan yesterday. No details have yet been released regarding the dead soldier's identity but the regiment has strong links to the city of Perth.
Mr Wishart said:
"This is very sad news, a second Black Watch soldier killed in just over a month. This loss will be felt very deeply throughout Perthshire.
"This will be a very difficult time for the family, friends and comrades of the soldier who has been killed and my thoughts go out to them."
Ms Cunningham added:
"My prayers are with all those who are grieving today and with the families of other members of the Black Watch serving in Afghanistan.
"I can only begin to imagine the anxiety that must be felt by those with friends and loved ones serving with the Black Watch in such a dangerous environment whenever terrible news like this is received."
