WISHART SUPPORTS ALL THINGS FAIR

Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, Mr Pete Wishart, will tomorrow [Friday] visit Anna Bowman, Manager of one of Blairgowrie’s newest retail ventures, ‘All Things Fair’.

Mr Wishart is a longstanding supporter of Fairtrade and will tomorrow be able to sample some Fair Trade refreshments, browse the collection of diverse products and find out why Fair Trade can be a good choice in today’s world.

Mr Wishart said before the visit:

“I have always been a strong supporter of Fairtrade, and Perthshire has a proud history of close links with the organisation. Aberfeldy was the first town in Scotland to be awarded Fairtrade status, the conference which set out the creation of a Scottish Fair Trade Forum was held in Perth, Perth is a fairtrade city and Perth and Kinross Council have worked very hard to become a Fairtrade council. I am delighted that this trend has now captured imaginations in Blairgowrie.

“All Things Fair is a shop which stocks only ethically sourced and Fair Trade products, a first for Blairgowrie and the local area.

"Fairtrade products make a difference by helping people to get a fair price for the high quality goods they produce. No-one is exploited along the way, and by helping people to help themselves in some of the most vulnerable communities worldwide, it helps contribute to a sustainable future.

“The Fairtrade Mark is the only consumer label that focuses on ensuring that farmers and producers in developing countries receive an agreed and stable price for the crops they grow and goods they produce, as well as additional income to invest for the future.

“I am looking forward to discussing the many issues that surround Fairtrade locally and finding out what plans lay in the future for this exciting venture.”
