WISHART TO ATTEND PITLOCHRY ONTARIO MASSED LEGION PIPES AND DRUMS EVENT

Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, Mr Pete Wishart, will this evening [Thursday] join Highland Councillor Kate Howie in taking the salute at the Ontario Massed Bands event in Pitlochry this evening.

“I am delighted to be invited to take the salute at this wonderful event. It is always good to highlight the many links shared between our countries. So many towns, rivers and mountains in Canada have been named in honour of Scottish explorers, traders and adventurers; from Mackenzie Bay and Calgary to Nova Scotia. There have been times when Canada was regarded as almost an extension of Scotland.

“This being the year of the Homecoming and the Gathering of the Clans makes this event even more poignant. So it is with great honour that I welcome our guests from overseas and I am very much looking forward to an evening of stirring music.”
