SWINNEY AND WISHART WELCOME TOWN CENTRE BOOST FOR PERTHSHIRE
North Tayside MSP, Mr John Swinney and Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart have today [Thursday] welcomed a massive boost to town centres in Perthshire as a result of the Scottish Government Town Centre Regeneration Fund.
In the announcement, three key Perthshire towns have been awarded significant sums of money -
* the Birks cinema in Aberfeldy is to receive £320,075
* the Blairgowrie and Rattray Regeneration Company is to receive £1,500,000
* Coupar Angus Town Centre Regeneration is to receive £200,000
The Town Centre Regeneration Fund was set up by John Swinney in his role as Scotland's Finance Secretary as part of the Government Budget for this year.
Mr Swinney commented -
"This is excellent news for Perthshire, with real impetus being given by the Scottish Government to regenerate Aberfeldy, Blairgowrie and Rattray and Coupar Angus.
“This money will ensure vital projects can now go ahead to significantly enhance the role and the potential of vital local towns.
“I look forward to working with local people in taking forward this exciting agenda."
Mr Wishart added -
"I am delighted with this excellent news. We are now able to make real progress in boosting the economic potential of our towns in Perthshire.
“I congratulate those involved in putting forward the bids and will support them in taking forward the projects.
“This initiative demonstrates another example of the Scottish Government delivering for the people of Perthshire."
