WISHART ON PROPOSED DALL DEVELOPMENT

WISHART ON PROPOSED DALL DEVELOPMENT

Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, Pete Wishart, today [Wednesday] stepped into the debate surrounding the proposed £1.3 billion development at Dall on the shores of Loch Rannoch. The so-called ‘millionaires playground’ would be an exclusive resort with a £2 million membership price tag on the site of the former Rannoch School.

Speaking today Mr Wishart said.

“Where there is a long way to go in the debate about this proposal, it is right and important that all the issues are understood and properly aired. This stretch of land is one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland and any development on the proposed scale must be subject to the utmost scrutiny and pass the test that it will do nothing to compromise the special status of the area.

“All economic activity in the Rannoch area is welcome, but it cannot be to the detriment of the local community or amenity. People in Highland Perthshire will also remember the grandiose proposals to similarly redevelop Taymouth Castle at Kenmore and how these plans ended in disappointment and frustration.

“I will be meeting with the campaign groups to discuss their particular concerns and am also seeking an early meeting with the developers to discuss properly their intentions. Rannoch and Highland Perthshire are our scenic jewels in the crown and it is important that any decision made in the area is subject to the most vigorous tests and conducted with absolute transparency.”
