WISHART VISITS GLENCARSE OUTREACH POST OFFICE
Perth and North Perthshire MP, Pete Wishart, today visited Glencarse Hosted outreach post office to get a firsthand look at the popular service.
Before meeting customers at the branch, Mr Wishart met Mohammad Akram and Shasiga Bano who provide space in their shop for the post office service. Mr Wishart also met post office assistant Alison Gunn who operates the Hosted outreach service at St Madoe’s Village Store every Tuesday and Thursday 9am till 1230pm, on behalf of the Core Subpostmaster Catherine Scott from Methven post office.
The Hosted site at the village store in Errol Road, St Madoe’s, Perth, PH2 7NF has been operating since November 2008 and is proving a valuable means of delivering service to the Perthshire village.
Mr Wishart said
“I am very aware of the importance of post office services to communities like Glencarse and I am delighted to have this opportunity to visit the Hosted service and see how it is working locally. The Subpostmaster has worked hard to promote the operation and should be congratulated for her efforts.”
Customers at Glencarse can access a range of post office products and services, including Post Office Card Account, personal banking, stamps and mail, bill payments, postal orders and car tax.
There are a number of outreach concepts provided by Post Office Limited: mobile post office which visits communities at set times; a hosted service operated within third party premises for a set number of hours each week, or a partner service within the premises of a local business.
In recent months, Post Office Limited has introduced 90 new outreach services around Scotland.
Robert Findlay, Field Change Advisor, Post office Ltd, said;” Customers are enjoying a first class service at Glencarse and have been very impressed with the Hosted post office. In addition to the existing services available, customers can also now tax their cars. The outreach model is proving a successful way of delivering post office services to a number of rural communities.
“The Subpostmaster is very proactive and has publicised the service locally, supported by the shop owner. Local customers have been very supportive too. This is an excellent example of an effective partnership between a local business and Post Office Ltd providing outstanding customer service.”
