LOCAL POLITICIANS WELCOME ALYTH SUCCESSFUL CLIMATE CHANGE BID

North Tayside MSP, Mr John Swinney, and Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart, have today [Wednesday], welcomed the news that the St Ninian’s Heating Project in Alyth has been successful in its bid for funding from round five of the landmark Climate Challenge Fund (CCF). The grant will be used for radiators and pipe insulation, as well as an awareness raising weekend to encourage the community to reduce their individual carbon footprints.

Commenting on the news, Mr Swinney said:

“Once again Alyth is leading the way when it comes to combating climate change. I am constantly impressed by the hard work and ingenuity that this small community has shown over the years. Alyth has taken small steps, which continuously provide massive dividends.

“I am very proud of the Climate Challenge Fund. It really does make greener alternatives a possibility for communities across Scotland.”

Mr Wishart added:

"Congratulations to St Ninian’s in securing this funding. Alyth is a community that takes climate change immensely seriously, as was made plain once again during the town's Energy Fair that I was pleased to open at the weekend.

"My SNP Colleagues in the Scottish Parliament take the challenges of Climate Change seriously, which is why this fund exists to support communities who want to do their part, however small, to reduce their carbon footprint and tackle negative impacts on the environment."
