WISHART TO RECONVENE PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS CITY HALL FUTURE

Speaking today [Thursday] following Perth and Kinross’ decision to cancel the contract with Wharfside, Pete Wishart, Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire said:

“It was sadly inevitable that the Wharfside proposals for the City Hall would fall when the full council considered the damning officers report. The Council came to the right conclusion and their job is to now ensure that quick progress is made to take the next stage forward.

“The City Hall saga has been one of the most eagerly discussed debates that we have had in the city in the past few years and the people of Perth care passionately about the future of our city centre.

“It is vitally important therefore that the people of Perth are fully consulted and have an opportunity to participate in the debate about the City Hall’s future. Earlier this year I hosted a public meeting to discuss the various options available and I now intend to reconvene that meeting. It is important that everybody has there say and Perth and Kinross Council fully know the views of the people of Perth.

I will announce details about this meeting shortly and hope as many people as possible can contribute.”
