LOCAL POLITICIANS BACK REAL NAPPY TARTAN LAUNCH
Perth parliamentarians, Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, and Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perth, attended the launch at the Perth Concert Hall this morning (Wednesday) of the Real Nappy Tartan.
Speaking after the event, Ms Cunningham said:
"I am delighted to be here today to add my support to the Real Nappy Network as they launch the Real Nappy Tartan here in Perth, which provides both a colourful and fun way to promote the work they do and a good looking design for the product.
"The Real Nappy Network does really good work in promoting alternatives to the disposable nappies which constitute such a significant part of the waste that we send to landfill.
"Real nappies save waste, save energy and save money and as this new tartan shows, they can look good too!"
Mr Wishart continued:
"This wonderful new tartan tells the tale of the product. Different coloured threads represent the environment, nappies and the sun to dry those nappies as well, of course, as blue for a boy and pink for a girl.
"While a bit of fun has been had designing the tartan, there is a really serious point between real nappies.
"Better for babies, better for the environment and better for the parents' pocket, they really are a genuine alternative and I pay tribute to all the folk involved in the Perth & Kinross Real Nappy Network and the other Real Nappy networks across Scotland who works so hard at promoting real nappies and suupporting parents in making the choice not to use disposable nappies."
