WISHART MEETS WITH ScOPE CAMPAIGNERS

Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, Mr Pete Wishart, today [Friday] visited Scone to meet with representatives from Scone Organisation for the Protection of the Environment (ScOPE) to hear further concerns about the proposed supermarket in the village.

Speaking before the meeting Mr Wishart said:

“I have already had a productive meeting with ScOPE and it was valuable to meet them and other traders in Scone today to further discuss concerns that the imposition of a superstore in Scone could have major impact on the village.

“A number of constituents have taken the time to contact me about this development and many feel that Perth already has more than enough large food retailers to satisfy the city and its environs. I would urge Perth and Kinross Council to listen carefully to the concerns outlined by ScOPE.

“Such a development may have an adverse effect on local business and could compromise Scone’s unique village community. It is therefore vital that this proposal be investigated further."
