WISHART TO HOST DALL PUBLIC MEETING

Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, Mr Pete Wishart, is today [Monday] inviting all those with an interest in the proposed development at the Dall estate to attend a public meeting he is organising on this matter. Mr Wishart is extremely concerned that both the developer and their agent have yet to confirm their attendance. The local MP will be chairing the meeting at The Capercaillie Suite in the Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel on 19th November 2009 at 7pm and it is open to all.

Speaking on the matter Mr Wishart said:

“I thought it was vitally important that those in the Rannoch area had the opportunity and forum to fully discuss what is potentially the most important development in the Rannoch area for many years. A development on this scale requires as much scrutiny and consultation as possible.

“I extend an invitation to everyone who has a view on this development, or is keen to hear the variety of voices and opinion which make up the Rannoch community. We have collected a range of interested parties to speak and I would encourage anyone with an interest to come along.

“As well as local groups and individuals, an invitation has been extended to the both the developers and their agents. I feel strongly that they should use this opportunity to present their case to the community with whom they hope to share the south shore of Loch Rannoch. It would surely be an appalling discourtesy, given this opportunity, not even to turn up and actively engage with the community. I think that to refuse this invitation to respond to local people’s very real concerns or even to hear them out would cast a long shadow over these plans almost from the outset. Today, I am re-issuing my invitation to the developer and their agents and remain hopeful of a positive response.

“This Thursday’s meeting will no doubt provide compelling debate. Please feel free to come along and have your say.”

A Dall Community Association spokesperson added:

" The Dall Community Association are delighted that our local MP has called for this Public Meeting at Rannoch to discuss this proposed development. We believe that Rannoch is for everyone. It's meant to be a place that all people can share and enjoy - not just as an exclusive resort for the super-rich, and those who would despoil its beautiful uniqueness and seek profit over the needs of the wider community. Let’s make Rannoch work for everybody. "
