WISHART RAISES CONCERNS ABOUT PERTH SUPERMARKET PLANS
Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth and North Perthshire, has written to the Head of Planning at Perth and Kinross Council to express local concerns at proposals for a new superstore in Scone.
Speaking today (Friday) Mr Wishart said:
“The majority of people who have contacted me are concerned that the imposition of a superstore in Scone could have major impact on the village and feel that Perth already has more than enough large food retailers to satisfy the city and its environs.
“They have also expressed the view that such a development may have an adverse effect on local business and could compromise Scone’s unique village community.
“These are genuine and deeply held concerns and I really want the planning department to address them.
“It is my understanding that the Development Control Committee has recently approved outline planning permission for a supermarket on this site. This concerns me, I want to know what investigations will take place to ensure that negative aspects of such a development will be mitigated.”
