LOCAL POLITICIANS WELCOME YOUTH SPORTS GRANTS

The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, and Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire have welcomed recent awards from the Big Lottery Fund’s 2014 Communities programme which will benefit local young people.

Mr Wishart has sent his congratulations to Perth and Kinross Youth Football Association, located in Perth, who received an award of £1920, saying:

“Well done to Perth and Kinross Youth Football Association in netting nearly two thousand pounds.  I am sure this money will be very welcome indeed and I wish them every success for the future.

“Getting kids involved in sport is good for their health, their social development and the community as a whole.”

 

Ms Cunningham echoed those sentiments and further congratulated The Community School of Auchterarder Parent Council on receiving a £996 award, saying:

“I echo those good wishes to Perth and Kinross Youth Football Association and further send my congratulations to the Parent Council at the Community School of Auchterarder who have secured funding for a range of hockey-related kit.

“Promoting sport for young people is extremely important for all sorts of reasons and I am sure that all the new equipment that these two lottery awards will pay for will be very well used indeed.”
