WISHART PRAISES “CYCLING AND RE-CYCLING” ON VISIT TO THE BIKE STATION

Published date : 12 October, 2012

The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire today visited Perth’s The Bike Station, today Friday 12 October 2012 at their premises in Friarton along with Cllr Mike Williamson, Vice Convener of Perth & Kinross Council’s Environment Committee.

Speaking in advance of the visit Mr Wishart said:

“Cycling and re-cycling are both good for the environment and for the wallet and at The Bike Station you can kill both birds with one stone.

“As well as being a great place to get a great bike at a great price, The Bike Station offers a range of services for employers to promote cycling and sustainable transport and works with voluntary organisations, schools and youth groups providing everything from cycle training, guided bike rides, fleets of bicycles, training and events.

“They are Scotland's largest bicycle recycling organisation taking in nearly 10,000 old and discarded bikes every year across their three centres in Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow and The Bike Station also helps folk keep their own bikes on the road by offering not just bike servicing by their own mechanics but also Fix Your Own Bike Sessions on their premises as well as running training sessions on bike maintenance.

“I think The Bike Station provides a wonderful range of services and I wish them continued success here in Perth.
