WISHART HIGHLIGHTS COUNCIL’S TRAINING FUNDING - FIRST OF ITS KIND IN SCOTLAND A “BEACON TO OTHERS”

Published date : 12 March, 2013

The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has welcomed the introduction by Perth & Kinross Council of a fund to support vocational training to help people fulfil their employability potential. Mr Wishart said: “The Enhancing Opportunities Grant offers training funding for people of all ages who may face barriers to employment, who want to improve their chances of employment, or who want to advance their career. “In these tough economic times many are struggling to find work and this programme could give them that extra bit of training that could make all the difference. “I am delighted that Perth & Kinross Council are giving local people this opportunity. By running a programme that is the first of its kind in Scotland, they are lighting a beacon for others to follow and it shows the SNP Administration’s determination to help people into work and help grow the local economy. “I would encourage anyone who thinks this fund might be able to help them to find out more. It could be the first step to a better future.”
