WISHART WELCOMES NEW OFGEM RULES TO GIVE SMALL BUSINESSES BETTER PROTECTION

Published date : 22 March, 2013

The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has highlighted news from the gas and electricity regulator Ofgem (Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets) of new rules – due to go live in the summer – which will ensure energy suppliers treat small businesses more fairly.

Speaking today (Friday), Mr Wishart said:

“I know that this news will be welcomed by many small businesses throughout my constituency.

“Many small businesses feel they get a bad deal from energy suppliers in comparison to the service offered to bigger concerns and I hope that these new rules will offer a more level playing field than has existed in the past.

“The rules will make it easier for businesses to shop around for a better deal and ensure that the information provided to them by suppliers is much clearer.

“Anyone involved in a small business who wants to find out more about these changes should check out the information on the Ofgem website.”
