WISHART WELCOMES NEWS THAT A9 WORK BEING BROUGHT FORWARD

The Scottish National Party's Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has welcomed the announcement by the Scottish Government that the first of twelve schemes in the £3 billion A9 dualling programme has been brought forward by six months. Mr Wishart said: "This is fantastic news.  I am proud that it is an SNP Government that has finally put plans in place to bring about the long needed dualling of the Perth to Inverness stretch of the A9 and I am absolutely delighted that they have been true to their word in bringing the project forward as quickly as possible whenever finances become available. "As we all know, the A9 is a massively important road artery linking the central belt with the Highlands and passing alongside many communities within my constituency. "The dualling project will be of huge benefit, first and foremost in terms of safety but also in economic terms and the incalculably positive impact it will have on journey times and driver frustration."
