WISHART WRITES TO SAINSBURY CEO OVER PERTHSHIRE STORE PLAN CHANGES

The Scottish National Party's Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has written to the chief Executive of Sainsbury's seeking a meeting with senior representatives of the company to discuss the issues behind their decision not to proceed with the development of a new supermarket in Perth. Mr Wishart will also be seeking formal reassurance that the company remains committed to developing a store in Pitlochry remain unchanged. Speaking today Mr Wishart said: “A lot of people will have been surprised and disappointed at the decision by Sainsbury’s not to proceed with their planned development of a new supermarket in Perth. “The planned new supermarket had promised to bring hundreds of jobs along with it and had involved the local Council in significant investment of time and effort. “I have written to Sainsbury’s Chief Executive seeking a meeting because I want a discussion, face to face, about all the issues behind that decision. “I will also be looking for a public reassurances about what impact this decision might have for their plans in Pitlochry and that they remain committed to that development.”
