WISHART WELCOMES PLEDGE TO EXTEND SMALL BUSINESS BONUS

Published date : 18 November, 2014

Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire paid a visit recently to the premises of Elegance of Perth, to discuss a range of issues facing city centre businesses and took the opportunity to highlight the importance of local, longstanding, independent retailers such as this.

Speaking after his visit, Mr Wishart said:

“Longstanding, independent businesses like Elegance of Perth are really important to the economy of the city centre.

“Aside from the trade which they generate for themselves, independent retailers provide a distinctive character to the city centre.  Chain stores are all very well and have their place but the level of personal touch that the small retailer can provide is welcomed by shoppers.

“Being able to offer something a bit different, something that they can’t get on the High Street in almost every other town and city in the country is attractive to visitors.  These businesses are essential and I am happy to have been able to meet with the great mother and daughter team behind Elegance of Perth to talk about their experience of doing business in Perth.

“I am also delighted that during her first speech as leader of the SNP, speaking here in the Fair City, Nicola Sturgeon pledged to the SNP to continuing the Small Business Bonus throughout the term of the next Scottish Parliament.

“Over the last few years, the Small Business Bonus has helped thousands of small businesses across Perth & Kinross to keep going through the difficult economic times of the last few years and has provided them with a firm foundation on which they can thrive and grow.”
