The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, met with some of his constituents who have been participating in the Scottish Enterprise Rural Leaders Programme which has included visits to the European and Westminster Parliaments.

Speaking after welcoming the group during their recent visit to the House of Commons, Mr Wishart said:

“It is always great to meet constituents here in London and I was particularly pleased to be able to welcome this group who are all involved in leading roles within the rural economy.

“The purpose of their visits here and at the European Parliament was to enable them to gain a better insight into parliamentary processes and decision making, and to meet with MPs to discuss rural issues.  I hope that I was of some help to them in that regard.

“I know that through the discussions they have had in the course of their programme, the group have discussed a number of important rural issues and have been developing innovative ideas and solutions.

“I look forward to hearing more about these ideas as they are taken forward and I would encourage others involved within the rural economy to find out more about this programme.”
