WISHART COMMENTS ON FISHERS CLOSURE

Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has expressed his disappointment at the plan by Scottish Textile Services Company to  close the Fishers Laundry in Aberfeldy.

Mr Wishart said:

“For many years, Fishers has been a major employer in Aberfeldy and the surrounding area and the loss of 43 jobs will have a big impact.

 “I understand that over half of the workforce have indicated a willingness to relocate to the company’s operations in Perth and Glasgow but that means that approaching half have not and I sincerely hope that the company will continue to work to support them.

 “The nature of the announcement from Fishers suggests their mind is firmly made up but I hope that something can be done to persuade them to remain in Highland Perthshire.”
