Wishart welcomes new PKC administration

Mr Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, has welcomed the formation of the new Perth and Kinross Council. The inaugural full council of the new session took place today after the local government election earlier this month saw the SNP become the largest party elected to the council, after 5 years of Conservative administration.

Commenting, Mr Wishart said:

“I am delighted to see Perth and Kinross Council back with an SNP administration with Grant Laing as council leader, who I have no doubt will be brilliant in the role along with the other fantastic SNP councillors.

“After 5 years of malaise and neglect from the previous Tory administration, the SNP will offer decisive, comprehensive and ambitious leadership that will transform Perth and Kinross into an even better place to live, work and socialise for generations to come.

First on the agenda will be will be bringing forward a motion to extend the offer of free meals and activities for young people during school breaks to more households across Perth and Kinross.

“It is policies like this that will help protect families against the soaring cost of living, and this SNP administration will waste no time in delivering them.”
